The tea cup would also have to be special, in spite of having no roses. There is no mark, not even a pattern number, but the shape is the so called bute shape, one of the first tea cup shapes used in England. It must be the same age as the teapot, or perhaps a little older, made in the first decades of the 19th century, decorated in neoclassical style.
Both items have faults, specially the teapot - with visible restoration in several spots - but had it not been so, I wouldn't have found it on the ground of an antique fair in Porto - the city of Port wine!!! - being sold for a bargain, thus being accessible to my pocket, which never gets tired of buying such precious things.
A marca do bule, identificando o tipo de pasta, porcelana feldspática, data-o de cerca de 1820.
The mark on the teapot, by identifying the type of paste, feldspar porcelain, dates it to about 1820.

As to the cup and saucer, I've seen porcelains with the same pattern, all in gold with acanthus leaves, attributed to early Coalport - Coalport Porcelain Works - only the border is different, a Greek border all in rectilinear lines (see here)
I had failed to mention, but Felicity reminded me of it in her comment, that a little time ago a saucer with a very similar pattern was shown in the blog Reggie Darling.
E agora só me resta desejar:

Maria, another beautiful post and perfect to celebrate Sandi's Tea Tuesday birthday! The Spode teapot was a wonderful find .. as was the tea cup. Lucky you!!!
ResponderEliminarWell, Snap, these finds make my day when they happen.
EliminarI think I have an eye for antique china and I usually buy it cheap, in the so called flea markets. ;)
Have a nice Tea Day!
Hi Maria,
ResponderEliminarThanks for joining my blog, now it does not look so lonely he he.
Oh your tea cup and saucer. I thought I had seen this pattern in another blog by Reggie Darling.
http://reggiedarling.blogspot.hk/2013/01/saucer-of-new-year.html
Not sure if they are in the same pattern but it does look very similar.
Well, as long as the piece has history and you like it, it does not matter whether it's perfect or not.
Felicity
You know, Felicity, already last week I wanted to join your blog, but you hadn't introduced that application yet. So, I'm glad I was your first follower today and also that you're my newest one :)
EliminarI see you also know that blog Reggie Darling. Thanks for mentioning it here, because as I had prepared this post in a hurry, being already late, I had forgotten about it and it was something interesting to add here.
Hugs
Dear Maria,
ResponderEliminarI swoon about your pretty tea pot and tea cup. You always amazes me with such antique treasures. The tea pot is marvellous with the roses and gold decoration. And you have chosen the perfect partner with the tea cup. A set for a queen! I am sure, Sandi will be highly delighted. So nice that we have met on such an nice blog party. Thank you for sharing this sweet post and for your visits with kind comments.
Hugs and greetings,
Johanna + Wiskicat
Thanks, Johanna. I think I was lucky to find this teapot and only a richly decorated tea cup would be a good match for it, considering this is a special occasion...
EliminarThese online meetings help to strengthen online friendships that make us feel so good!
Have a great week, together with lovely Wiski!

Well Maria, you always have lovely china, but I think the Spode teapot you have today is perhaps my favorite! Absolutely beautiful and a wonderful tribute to Sandi's blog birthday. Wonderful. The teacups is wonderful as well. Thanks foor sharing what are truly tea treasures by linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!
ResponderEliminarRuth
Yes, Ruth, the Spode teapot, although very battered, is a favourite of mine, too. And with the beautiful hand painted roses, very appropriate for Sandi!
EliminarThanks for visiting and for the kind words.
Hugs
I love your tea pot. So glad you found it and gave it a good home. Happy Tea Time!

Welcome in my blog, Jocelyn!
EliminarI'm glad you also appreciated my Spode teapot!
Have a great week!
Hi: Your tea pot is amazing. What a treasure! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. Blessings, Martha
ResponderEliminarHello Maria, The tea pot is a pretty one, and the tea cup is also very lovely. I have always gold pattern trim on china. And both of these have plenty! It is such an investigation with these older pieces, it helps to know history too. Great research to figure out the cup is an early Coalport. Wow!
ResponderEliminarI enjoyed your post : )
Hugs,
Terri
Dear Martha and Terri,
EliminarI can't forget that you were the first to inspire me to participate in these tea events. Thanks for hosting Tea Cup Tuesday.
As to the cup, Terri, unmarked as it is, I'm not sure it is an early Coalport, it could be by another maker using the same motif, but it's certainly English and of the Neoclassical period.
Hugs to both of you, dear ftriends
Hello Maria,
ResponderEliminarWhat a gorgeous teapot and teacup! I do believe this teapot is my favourite of all those you have shared here. I'm so glad it found a good home with you. It is stunning! The teacup is a treasure as well and I love the ornate gold on it. Beautiful choices to help me celebrate TTT's Birthday. Thank you so much, my friend, for coming to tea and sharing your wealth of information on beautiful china and porcelain with us. Have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Sandi
Hi Sandi,
EliminarIt was a pleasure to join TTT's birthday party. And I'm glad you enjoyed the pieces I chose for it, specially the rose teapot.
Thanks for hosting and for the kind words of your comment.
Hugs
Hello Maria
ResponderEliminarPerhaps the pretty teapot was waiting for you to find it? A couple of nice pieces to help celebrate Sandi's 3rd anniversary.
Judith
Yes, Judith, I believe it was waiting for me... and it was a real bargain!
EliminarThanks for visiting.
Have a great week.
Hi Maria! Wow..it is always a joy to visit your blog because you share such unique sets..! They each are so magical and beautiful! I adore all of the gold patterns..like poetry! Fabulous!!
ResponderEliminarVictoria
You know, Victoria, in my view, the beautiful things we are lucky enough to find should be shared, not hidden from everyone’s eyes just to be enjoyed by a small family circle.
EliminarThat’s what all of us do in theses blogs, share beauty and treasures... like poetry!
Hugs
A chávena achei-a particularmente requintada.
OMG Maria..
ResponderEliminarHow lovely the teapot is .. I immediately thought of Spode china... It's simply gorgeous in shape. I adore the hand painted roses ... I've seen children's, spode teaset that were similar, years ago but now, very few are on the market.......What a rare find !!!
I certainly would be gathering up those wonderful acanthus decorated cups and saucer too... SO dainty and regal ...What special china for sharing on Sandi's anniversary... Thanks you for mentioning the feldspar porcelain...I'm so interested in types of porcelains... Your posts alway inspire me , my friend...Big Hugs
Hi Zaa,
EliminarIt's always a pleasure to read your nice comments showing interest in the same things I treasure.
Spode was/is a major maker and offers the advantage of having marked its china almost from the beginning of manufacture.
The teapot was quite a find, I agree, which made me very happy!:)
Big hugs for you too, dear friend.
